I'm going to be honest with you: I haven't been reading much this year. Based on things I've been reading on social media, it seems as though I'm not alone in this. The COVID-19 pandemic has made so many of us more anxious than usual, and it can be difficult to shut your brain off and get lost in a book, even though that escape can be exactly what we need right now!
I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I first started querying SHADOW OF THE NECROPOLIS! It doesn't feel like it's been that long, but it does at the same time. I'm a somewhat sporadic querier, so I probably would have exhausted my list of agents long before now if I had gone through… Continue reading A Tale of Two Manuscripts: Some Statistics
It's Monday, August 27, which can only mean one thing in writer-land... THE PITCHWARS SUB WINDOW IS OFFICIALLY OPEN!! I submitted my materials last night and promptly shut off my light and went to sleep. Do I think I'll be chosen this year?... I mean, never say never, right? This is my fourth year entering… Continue reading the moment has come!
I've finally made it to the halfway point in my revision on Shadow of the Necropolis! It's still very slow going, but I really need to finish it, since classes start up again on Wednesday. Not to mention, the PitchWars sub window opens on the 27th, in 2 weeks! Stats: Chapters revised - 15 of… Continue reading the halfway point
I've gone back and forth on it over the past few weeks, but I think I've finally decided to participate in PitchWars again this year! If nothing else, I love the feeling of community pitching writers create as we wait for picks to be announced 🙂 About My WIP: Shadow of the Necropolis has gone… Continue reading #PitchWars 2018: #BoostMyBio
I was struggling for an idea for this week's blog post that didn't have to do with my EXTREMELY slow revision on the now-titled Shadow of the Necropolis. Work is still underway on the final draft, but I've been dragging my feet since I decided to insert a couple of all-new chapters in this draft. Which… Continue reading my drafting style
Good morning, friends! I forgot to write a blog post over the weekend, so this is a bit of a late update. I'm really trying to get back to weekly posts. Revision work is still going pretty slowly. Yes, I'm still procrastinating. Other things just seem to be more interesting! ...Like scrolling through Twitter for… Continue reading chugging along
Sixteen-year-old Talia was born to a life of certainty and luxury, destined to become Empress of half the world. But when an ambitious rival seizes power, she and her mother are banished to a nowhere province on the far edge of the Northern Sea. It is here, in the drafty halls of the Ruen-Dahr,… Continue reading Review: Joanna Ruth Meyer’s BENEATH THE HAUNTING SEA
Hi guys! I promised another blog post, so this is me, being good about keeping up the old blog :)I posted my mentee bio last week, so I won't bore you by going through all that again! But PitchWars is the most fun, most nervewracking, most enlightening experience I've been through yet as a writer,… Continue reading Let The Madness Begin… PitchWars 2014!
So, I was tasked by Ms Eve Jacob my taskmaster with writing this blog post on my writing style/habits. To be honest, I'm still working on it. How about this: I'll write 2 sections. One on how I write now, and one on how I'd like to write. This is how I write now: first,… Continue reading My Writing Style: 2 weeks until 90 Day Writing Challenge!
